Two ofÂ Baxano, Inc‘s medical products have just been awarded the prize forÂ Best New Technology for Spine Care at the 2010 Spine Technology Awards last night. Baxano’s iO-Flex System and the MicroBlade Shaver Device were both awarded first place for Best New Technology in Lumbar Care.
The awards were announced at the 2010 Spine Technology Awards Gala, held in Orlando, Forida.
Baxano Incorporated won two top awards out of the total of eight prizes awarded across all categories. Some 23 companies submitted new medical technologies to be judged onÂ clinical relevance, originality, and the likelihood of their improving present standards of medical care.
The panel of six judges included private and academic spine surgeons, plus clinical buyers for leading spinal care medical and research centers.
“From our founder’s initial concept in 2005 to the commercially-available product helping patients across the US today, our exceptional engineering team has kept its focus on providing novel minimally-invasive instruments for unmet surgical needs,” said Tony Recupero, President and CEO of Baxano, Inc.
He said the company was overjoyed that the judges chose both Baxano’s iO-Flex System and the MicroBlade Shaver Device for equal top prize. “This award further validates our industry-leading value proposition for all stakeholders in today’s cost-effective healthcare environment,” he concluded.
