Carlson, a privately held global travel and hospitality company, yesterday announced that it will have more than 100 hotels operating in India by the year 2015.
Carlson’s president and CEO, Hubert Joly, explained the company plans to open eight hotels this year and 15 hotels in next year.
They opened three hotels during the first half of 2010, and will open five more hotels by the end of the year.
This makes Carlson the largest international hotel company operating in India.
The five Indian hotels opening next will be:
- Radisson Hotel in New Delhi Paschim Vihar
- Radisson Hotel in Rudrapur
- Country Inn and Suites in Gurgaon Sector 12
- Park Plaza in Ahmedabad
- Park Plaza in Faridabad
The signing ceremony was for a 275-room Radisson Blu Hotel in Mumbai Malad in West India and a 110-room Park Plaza Coimbatore Hotel in South India.
The Radisson Blu will begin construction immediately, and is scheduled to open in 2014. The hotel will be close to Mumbai Maladâ€™s CBD and also on a main road that connects Mumbai city to the Western suburbs.
The Park Plaza will open in 2011. It will be near the Coimbatore International Airport.
