The prevailing theme of this work is that of the chaos wrought by chronic illness/pain in a brain infected with abnormal neuronal behavior symbolically represented by the black nerve cells which act as a spider-like prison for the beautiful world of creativity as represented symbolically by the interweaving colors.

Everywhere there is the strange juxtaposition of pain with the struggle of my radiant creative self to express itself.

The creature emerging from one of the defective neurons is symbolic of the sensation of pain that slithers through my soul and body!

This art is a courtesy of PainExhibit.org, an online educational, visual arts exhibit from artists with chronic pain who use art to express some facet of the pain experience.

The Pain Exhibit’s mission is to educate healthcare providers and the public about chronic pain through art, and to give voice to the many who suffer in silence.

Pain Exhibit recently launched its new Spanish language website at PainExhibit.org/es.
