Home for Harvest on the Harbor will welcome home two celebrity chefs

On October 21st through the 23rd, in Portland, Maine, the premier wine and food event of the year will be held.

Sponsored by the Maine Office of Tourism, 94.9 WHOM FM, Down East Magazine, Portland Press Herald/ Maine Sunday Telegram, and Ameritrade, the event will be produced by the Greater Portland Convention & Visitors Bureau. It will be held on Portland’s famous waterfront, Ocean Gateway.

Two celebrity chefs, Zac Young and Michael Ruoss, will come back home to Maine. Mr. Young will emcee at The Marketplace on the Sweet Stage at Savory Samplings from 12:00 pm to 2:30 pm and at 4:00 to 6:30 pm on October 23rd. During the festival, a show from the TV series, Top Chef Just Desserts, will air with Mr. Young being a contestant. The TV show will premiere in the middle of September.

Mr. Ruoss, will kick off the festival’s events as the guest chef for The Ulitmate Seafood Splash. From 11:30 am to 1:30 pm on October 21st, he will serve his famous Cajun style lobster stew, which is similar to seafood gumbo. Before arriving at the festival, he will show students at Southern Maine Community College how to make it. SMCC is his alma mater.
