Hotel rates, airfares and car rentals cost more this year

The cost of airline tickets over the holiday Labor Day weekend are likely to be up nine percent compared to a year ago, and the bad news continues.
The cheapest round-trip airfares for the top 40 US air routes will be rising to $179, according to the AAA’s Leisure Travel Index.
Daily car rental rates for the weekend will jump to an average of $46, which is an increase of seven percent.
AAA Three Diamond rated hotels are predicted to go up by six percent from this time last year, with travelers spending $139 per night on average, compared with $132 a year ago. While travelers using AAA Two Diamond accommodation will have to cough up two percent more this year. That’s around $102 a night.
