The Sound of Music: 45th Anniversary Edition will be released to all digital and physical retail outlets On November 2nd.

Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, Legacy Recordings in association with Rodgers and Hammerstein, an Imagem Company are behind the new release of the movie soundtrack, entitled I’ll Sing Once More: The Sound of Music Lives On.

The CD will have a full color booklet that will include photos that are rare that were found in photo archives at Fox. There will be an updated 1500 word essay about the story.

This was written by Bert Fink who is the Senior Vice President of Communications for Rodgers and Hammerstein.

The CD will have 25 tracks, and one of them will be a bonus track sung by Lea Michele from the TV series Glee. The popular song, My Favorite Things will be recorded with a modern twist.

To celebrate the anniversary, there will also be a Blu-ray version of the movie released on November 2nd. There will be individually numbered limited collector’s sets that will be in a keepsake box.

The set will include a DVD and a Blu-Ray Disc, the new soundtrack, a one hundred page “My Favorite Things” scrapbook, an exclusive-hand painted My Favorite Things music box and a reproduction of the original 1965 souvenir program.

A nationwide movie theater sing-along event from NCM Fathom on October 19th and October 26th, 2010 will be seen at five hundred theaters in over one hundred and fifty cities.

A special tribute at the VH1 Save The Music 2010 Gala will be presented on November 8th, 2010. Dame Julie Andrews will be honored, and there will be tributes to other honorees as well.
