Ibin, I am so sorry to hear the pain, physical and emotional, that your family has been through. I understand your frustration that we “chronic painers” are being forced to endure not because we did something wrong but because someone elsr did. I am tired of being part of this national crisis that I did not create and that will not be solved by lumping all of us who have, as a matter of course, been reduced to taking opiods with all others who have abused a medically necessary treatment.

My young wife child bride, yet of legal age to betroth at age 18 in NC and I have been married for 39 years. We took our vows…..seriously. For better or worse. I understand the unilateral reduction of opiate based medication prescribing is causing loss of property through default of payment on home mortgages, car payments and recurring debt that will NEVER cease because of food requirements, utility bills, and insurance costs just to name a few. Divorce is rising because of the “blame” game placed upon patients with pain as well as the suicide rate among patients with continuous pain.
!0 years ago, we, after symptoms of fatigue, exaggerated fatigue when our children were in high school, my wife, became aware that she had symptoms of some type sickness, negative health condition. After only one meeting with our doctor of many years advised ‘take more vitamins C and D. That was the full extent of her diagnosis. The advise did not help her condition. After several meetings, appointments with caregivers that diagnosed many different illnesses and advisement of how to address her symptoms, none of which improved her condition. We expanded our resources.
After finally finding a doctor after 3 or 4 different physicians which we had examinations all over NC we found a knowledgeable doctor with her precise symptoms. It took less than ten minutes to properly diagnose her condition. He followed up his diagnosis which indicated….he was right with his diagnosis.
She was diagnosed with fibromyalgea with underlying symptoms of lymes disease which have been confirmed. As many with these diseases, there is not a surgical remedy to her disease. She was in fact placed on mild opioid therapy which does. did help. Very low doses of medication which evolved into an excess of 90 mme daily but, a higher dosage in the last 5 years. She has been reasonably “comfortable” but, was forced to file for SS Disability which after 3 years and almost bankruptcy for our family. She was “awarded” her SS Disability funds because she had worked and paid her SS Disability required taxes.
Now at age 57 she has been reduced by 66% in opiate medication which has placed her into a ” depressed” state because she can no longer keep up with household duties which include basic maintenance of home work, and assisting myself with my business record keeping.and necessary work to keep the home running efficiently allowing me, a two time failed back surgery patient to earn the balance of our monthly, yearly recurring debt.
I have noticed her, after 8 months of forced reduction as per the state adopted CDC mis-guided-line, slipping into a more depressive state for being persecuted without substantiation with 90 mme and she feels as if she is letting her portion of family unity, family requirements, family survival to falter and that I blame her for her incurable illness.
This is not the case. I through opiate medication treatment with documentation as to the very positive result of medication use am now understanding better how she feels. 20 plus years of positive medication use with now CDC “policy”, the mis-guide-line reduction to me, by my provider with documentation of prescribing and then recording the successful use of opiate medication without misuse of any nature, , IS causing what little life savings we have saved for decades to be rapidly depleted through no choice of my wife and myself. I have been very very stably treated with documented use of opiate medication after drug screening, pill counting and very intense scrutiny to affirm that I am not re-distributing my personal medication. Opiate medications, the ONLY current resource of treatment, the basic resource of treatment to allow me to monetarily earn the necessary funds to achieve the most basic debt payment that ALL people and families incur, for life.

I hope that Dr. Murphee with his achievements and experience of acute and “chronic” pain treatment will actually be recognized as more and more physicians observe their current patients with pain falter in all aspects of physiological, emotional as well as spiritual happiness with the forced unilateral reduction of medication to the patient with pain.

For those afflicted with other than fibromyalgea and lymes disase continuous pain, it can cause the body to ache, superficially as well as muscularly to the point of absolute resolve of immobility. Again I will say, we patients that do have documented successful use of opiate medication with zero other effective recourse of continuous pain treatment other than opiate medication, any future use of developed medication and treatment is eagerly sought. The problem is that the patients that have been successfully prescribed and treated with opiate medication as THE last resort of effective treatment have been targeted as the core responsible parties to the “opiod crisis” declared by agencies such as the FDA. CDC, department of Health and Human Resources, by the “authoritarians” and experts such as the psychiatric health professionals instead of medical physicians who are without the infirmities of real people as per their personal opinion. The millions of people with continuous pain testimonies and REAL hardships even to the extent of property loss and true worsened suffering has been thus far……ignored.
We, the severe continuous patients with pain acknowledge that we are and will be patients for lifetime and only seek to perform lifes expectations monetarily, physically, and responsibly as proven by our documented prescribing and lateral proof. The CDC mis-guide-line needs be totally rescinded, allowed research into ALL possible realms of pain reduction medications some which are deemed “illegal”, illicit, medications that can NOT be researched at this time through current legislation. I advocate for no ONE medical research but, I advocate for the health and welfare of to those who have had unsubstantiated, unwarranted, illegal, limits of treatment placed upon us so stated by the authoritarians that state that prescribed medication and the recipients are the CORE instigator of the so called “opioid crisis”.
It may be cliche’ now, but, all deserve the right to life. liberty, and the pursuit of happiness even if it includes treatment with opiate medications provided that have been prescribed and used…….responsibly WHICH by the overwhelming majority, statistically wise…….have done.

I belong to Live to Live and registered yesterday! I can’t wait to hear what Dr. Murphree has to say! I’ve been hit hard the last few months with CFS like I’ve never ever had before! I just don’t understand it! Hopefully he can explain why.

I am sure you are glad to hear thAt gabapentin has some nasty withdraw effects as that should keep the patient using the drug longer so the profits keep generating.

Dr. Murphree sounds like an extremely dedicated and forward thinking physician. I wonder how familiar he may be with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome that is often misdiagnosed as fibromyalgia.
